The IUPAC names of varies classes of organic compounds are derived from alkanes鈥︹€︹€︹€? true&false?

true

take a two-carbon alcohol for instance. the parent name of the alcohol is based on the alkane with two carbons (ethane). to get the alcohol name, change the ending of the corresponding alkane name to -ol. the alcohol is ethanol.

(note: the question didn't say *all* IUPAC names of organic compounds are derived from alkane names, just *various* classes. this is absolutely true, as the example above shows)The IUPAC names of varies classes of organic compounds are derived from alkanes鈥︹€︹€︹€? true%26amp;false?
true ..alkanes are the most primitive organic compounds which were first separetedThe IUPAC names of varies classes of organic compounds are derived from alkanes鈥︹€︹€︹€? true%26amp;false?
