Why don't poets use a false name?

Authors use pseudonyms because they write in certain Genres. Such as Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Science-Fiction, etc. When an author wants to write a book in a different Genre, many of their fans or audience balk, thinking OMG, what are they doing? Are they no longer writing, say, Romance novels and now writing Science-fiction? So to keep nerves calm, many find it easier to just write under another name.

Poets are more generalized, they write poetry and stay usually in that field, or in music. Both are acceptable to a poetry reader and easy for them to understand and forgive the ';cross-over.'; People who write poetry such as Jewel, etc. have a big fan base as a poet and as a singer. No one finds it hard to believe or holds it against her, in fact, in her work its a positive when it comes to writing lyrics. Why don't poets use a false name?
