You can not change the name of a file using the COPY command

true or false? You can not change the name of a file using the COPY command? true or false?
You cannot use COPY to rename a file without creating a duplicate, so true. Instead, you would use the REN (or RENAME) command in DOS.You can not change the name of a file using the COPY command? true or false?
in dos the command is:

copy c:/file.ext c:/folder/file.ext where file.ext is the name of the original (source) and file.ext is the name of the copied file name.

The do a ren (rename) ren file file2

IN WINDOWS:

Select the file and do a CNTL + C simultaneously and then o to where you want to copy it to and select the location and do a CTRL + V to paste it. Then righ on the copied file and select rename. There are other ways as well. Start with this but if you have any questions right click on the source you are tying to copy (in windows and look at what pops up.
As far as I know, the copy command in itself will not change the file name unless you copy and paste into the exact same folder. If you do that, the pasted file will read ';Copy of ###';.

Hope that helps.
You could copy a file and then paste as another file name.
