The Empty Name ';Jesus''
The New Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume 7, pages 970-971, tells us of the name Jesus:
JESUS (THE NAME). In English the name Jesus is a transliteration of the Latin form Iesus, which represents the Greek form of the Hebrew name ye-拧没a`. The latter is a late form, by vowel dissimilation, of the name y么拧没a`, itself a contracted form of yh么拧没a`, ';Yahweh is salvation.'; This was the name of Moses' successor. *Josue (Joshua), son of Nun. Both because of the fame of this early hero of Israel and because of the meaning of the name, many men both in the OT and in the NT bore the name of Josue or Jesus. The Septuigint generally uses the Greek form where the Hebrew text has the form y么拧没a` or y'h么拧没a`. So also the NT, in referring to Josue, son of Nun, calls him Jesus (Acts 7:45; Heb 4:8). An allusion is made in Mt. 1:21 to the meaning of the name (';Yahweh is salvation';): Joseph is told by the angel of the Lord to name the child born of Mary's virginal conception ';Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.';
The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, by Kittel and Bromley, Volume 3, page 289, tells us:
The Dictionary of New Testament Theology, Volume 2, pages 330-331, gives us more information about this widely accepted, yet incorrect name.
OT Ie-sous is the Gk. form of the OT Jewish name Ye-拧没a`, arrived at by transcribing the Heb. and adding an -s to the nom. to facilitate declension. Ye-拧没a` (Joshua) seems to have come into general use about the time of the Babylonian exile in place of the older Yeh么s没a . The LXX rendered both the ancient and more recent forms of the name uniformly as Ie-sous... It is the oldest name containing the devine name Yahweh, and means ';Yahweh is help'; or ';Yahweh is salvation'; (cf. the vb. yasa`, help, save). Joshua also appears in one post-exilic passage in the Heb. ot (Neh. 8:17) as Ye-拧没a` the son of Nun, and not as in the older texts Yeh么拧oa.
The Encyclopedia Dictionary of the Bible, by Louis Hartman, pages 1141-1142, shows us this:
Jesus. This name in english is a transcription of the Latin Jesus, which represents the Greek form, of the Hebrew name, ye拧颅a` (脿 Jesua), itself a late form, by vowel dissimilation, of yo拧颅a` (Jesua), a contracted form of yehos颅a` , ';Yahweh is salvation.';
The form Yeshua or Jesus was a deliberate change from the original Name Yahshua, as the same pages of this same source shows:
Jesua. In the last few centuries before Christ the personal name, yos颅颅a was pronounced and written as ye拧颅a.
The Harper Bible Dictionary, by Paul Achtemeier, page 474, shows us that the form Yeshua or Jesus is not even a Hebrew name.
Jeshua (jesh麓oo-uh; Heb., ';Yahweh is salvation';), the Aramaic form of Joshua.
Rather than this name being correctly written and spoken YAHSHUA (containing Yahweh's powerful Name), its new form was Yeshua, meaning He will save. Not only was Yahweh's Name removed from the correct Name, Yahshua written in its new form, Yeshua, but Yahweh's power was removed from it as well.
This new name (Yeshua) was being used as the replacement for Yahshua's true Name, by the time the Septuagint (LXX) was beginning to be translated. The Greek word written in this version to replace the name that had replaced Yahshua's Name, is - a direct transliteration of the Hebrew word Yeshua.
The name Jesus is not even a transliteration. It is a corruption of a transliteration of a Hebrew word which had the mighty and powerful Name of Yahweh removed from its original meaning.
The Theological Dictionary Of The New Testament, Kittel and Bromiley, Volume 3, page 284, tells us that the name Jesus (Iesous) is a Greek form of the Hebrew proper Name Yahshua (). Keep in mind, however, that this name Jesus carries none of the meaning of the original Hebrew Name Yahshua, which means Yahweh is salvation.How did the FALSE name Jesus replace the true YAHSHUA for our Messiah and Savior?
Well if they make the Fathers Name nothing, why does
anyone believe they will honor the Son's Name.

You've just scratched the surface of the aprox. 10,000 intentional translation errors in the bible. Continue your quest for knowledge, Jesus said that's the key. [robert s. good point]
How do you know yahshua is correct? There are no vowels in Hebrew.
Although this seems to be of paramount importance to you, Jesus is apparently aware that is name is anglicized (germanized, and made pronouncable in thousands of languages) and people are healed in his anglicized/germanized/etc. name even today.
Because the man born in a stable in Bethlehem was called Jesus, and he is the Messiah, the anointed one.
You can call him Yeshua or Jesus. It really doesn't matter.
Jesus is the Greek version of the Latin name IOSEUS, a translation of Yahshua
He will answer to both, since both are His Name, just in different languages.

Jesus Hebrew name was actually YahShua, the equivalent of ';Joshua'; today. It means ';Yah (God) Saves';.
YahShua became Ioseus (Greek) and that eventually became ';Jesus';. It's alot like how alot of Swedish people are named Jorge and it SOUNDS like ';your-gey';, but our version of that same name sounds like ';George';
Now that you've learned something, please go spread it to all your fundie-Christian friends.
Okay, because the New Testament was written in Greek for Greek speaking people...
The message of ';Jesus'; is not Jewish. In the Hebrew Bible (which you call old and irrelevant or old and less relevant than the new and relevant testament) human sacrifice is forbidden. Let me say this again, Human sacrifice is forbidden in the Hebrew Bible. Jesus was a human sacrifice.
Read Leviticus 4-5. A Kosher sacrifice is done in the Temple, with the Kohen HaGadol laying his hand on the head of the animal, confessing the sins of ISRAEL on the animal, slicing the artery, draining the blood, pouring it at the base of the altar, removing the kidneys, the fats, etc. burning it on the altar as a sweet scent to HaShem...taking the ofal and burning it outside the camp in a riturally pure place. Now, please explain to me how Jesus' sacrifice on a tree by pork chop eating roman idol worshipping Gentiles is Biblical after reading the book of Leviticus? (Vayikra in Hebrew)...
Read the OT and see the ONLY LITERAL passages in the Hebrew Bible of the coming messiah:

YAHshua comments, got to love it. As if Jews are in a rush to say ';Yah.';
Joshua in Hebrew is Yehoshua spelled Yud, Hey, Vav, Shin, Vav, Hey... ';Yeshua'; ends in an ayin in Hebrew, not a Hey.
Yeshua - Joshua - Jesus. It is a matter if you want Hebrew or Greek.
Instead of Savior, you should insist on Messiah, or better yet, Meshiach - Yeshua ha Meshiach is Jesus the Christ. It all means the same thing, Greek or Hebrew.
It is not a matter of truth, but a matter of lingustic translation.
It got translated into Greek, then Latin, then into the other European languages as Christianity spread.
It's just an Anglicisation of the original word; no offence is meant by it. It's not supposed to be 'false'.
It's not just Jesus.
John the Baptist wasn't actually called John, Saint Peter wasn't actually called Peter, and God was never certainly called Jehovah by the Hebrews.
It was just to make it is easier to pronounce and understand for people new to the story, so the names were converted into their languages.
