False...There are many examples that attest to the significance of names in the Bible.

(((DON)))...meaning:Mafia kingpin,Godfather.
I know what my name means. I'm just not telling you.
That's false. Every name has some kind of meaning to it. ''God wrote them all''.
Time was a person could command things to be done 'in someone's name'. You can still do that if you work for a Queen.

Names were thought to give one the power to summon or command the named entity. This is supposed to be the reason that the Christian and Jewish deity insisted he be called YHWH.

CD
false, here was one with a meaning

Saint Lucifer:

Lucifer or Lucifer Calaritanus (Italian: San Lucifero) (d. 370 or 371) was a bishop of Cagliari in Sardinia and Christian saint known for his passionate opposition to Arianism.

At the Council of Milan in 354 he defended Athanasius of Alexandria, and he opposed the Arians so powerfully that they had the Emperor Constantius II (an Arian sympathizer) confine Lucifer for three days in the palace. While in confinement, Saint Lucifer argued so strongly with the emperor that he was banished, first to Palestine and then to Thebes, Egypt. While in exile, he wrote fiery letters to the emperor that put him in danger of martyrdom.

Yet many people have answered my old questions ';with a name like that....';, as if I were to be insulting their religion with such a name.

I had a laugh everytime, (TYA!!!) So yes they can have meanings here.
Names are human creations for the most part reflecting whims, caprices, likes and dislikes of individuals who arrogate to themselves certain names or those who give names. But what has a name got to do with one's true identity as the indestructible atom of God, created even before the birth of human language? It becomes clear that the name a person bears is arbitrary and has no one to one relationship wtih the individual. If I am called Peter now, I could change the name tomorrow to Stone, Water, diamond, air, nonsense, satan, cupboard, chair and you name the rest of the nouns, but this has no effect on me at t he core. When the name is changed how does this affect the essential makeup of the individual? The individual remains the same and can have one hundred or a thousand or million names but this does not change the composition of the atoms of being. Names are just labels to make one distinguish between John and Peter physically. P oint is if all persons bore the same name there will be unmitigated chaos, confusion and turmoil in the physical sphere. My opinion is that names are necessary for identification, but beyond that there is nothing more to them. If a child is born and has no name, will the child not grow up? In china some people have English names as a blessing from some foreigner, but the chinese express themselves, have opinions about themselves and the world around them in spite of not having English names that come as a boon for some of them later in life. Those who consider physical names as too important and will go to all lengths to defend and die for a name are in error perhaps. What else are they defending but the ego. I will change my name tomorrow.
A rose is a rose by any other name.

And the most important name of all.
