What happens when you provide a false name to the police?

My girlfriend got caught with out a license driving. she provided a fake name to the officer and she was fingerprinted. her fingerprints are in the immigration system from her visa she has. is this a fine? how much? and please no answers from all you racists. What happens when you provide a false name to the police?
If she is an illegal then she may face stiff penalties including deportation which should be expected.

The fact of providing false info is a crime. Duh. A fine is the least of her worries, jail or prison time is possible. What happens when you provide a false name to the police?
She will likely be arrested and charged with providing a false name and any other crime that was being committed at the time (driving without a license etc). It is likely she will spend at least a few nights in jail.
They will ';Run ';your prints and then Tell you who you are!
Why in the world do so many people drive without a license, that was stupid.

Giving a phony name was stupid.

The fact that they already have her fingerprints on file, and she was fingerprinted again will only lead the police to believe that she has something to hide, and is another misdemeanor, stupid.

I'm not a racist, but I'm tired of so many people in this country driving without a drivers license. There is a reason that people need a drivers license, because they have to take a test, and pass it, in order to receive a valid license.

What's next, she has an accident, hurts someone, then flees the accident site, that will become a felony.

She would have been much better off, admitting that she had no license, minor offense, then to lie about it, give false information, and laugh about it later.

Personally, I hope she gets sent back to her homeland, GETS an education in the truth, and learns to drive before she returns.
According to the website, they get your real identity and mark down the fake name as an ';aka'; on your record..
giving misleading info.

can be charge
They might want to talk to her and then make a decision depending on the circumstances.

If she gets, or makes an effort to get, a drivers license, it will look good in court.
It will depend on the Department where this happened. She's probably going to be better off if she calls the officer she lied to and give an explanation why.

Hopefully he'll only give her a municipal citation but odds are they'll hold her (so when she calls ask what the bail would be).

Make sure she takes a picture Id with her.

It'll take months before the department gets an answer back regarding her prints.
She will get arrested for giving false information.
